Car Insurance for Minor Accidents

If you are in a low speed, minor fender bender you may expect to get away without much damage. But recent crash tests have shown that this is not the case. In fact, low speed crashes can be quite detrimental to both cars involved, which obviously affect the car insurance industry in more ways than one.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has reported that midsize car bumpers do not do much to prevent damage in low speed crashes at approximately six miles per hour. This leads to a lot of people making car insurance claims after minor commuter fender benders.

The tests revealed that some midsize cars received damages in upwards of $9,000 after one of these low speed accidents. Can you imagine what that would do to your car insurance premium? So if you think that only a major accident will affect your car insurance, think again. The bottom line is that even a low speed crash can cost you big. This should be reason enough for everybody to try to avoid minor fender benders.
