Buying Life Insurance for your Child
Have you ever given any thought to buying life insurance for your child? Parents and so called experts offer many opinions on this subject. Whereas some feel that buying life insurance for children is necessary, many others think that it is nothing more than a waste of money. With that being said, who is right and who is wrong?
First off, consider the benefits of buying life insurance for your child. It is safe to say that parents do not like thinking about their child passing on before them. But with that being said, this does happen from time to time. If so, would you have enough money to cover the cost of a funeral and burial? Some parents may have the money to do so, or the ability to put the charges on their credit card. But even then, this could be a huge financial strain. If you were to have life insurance for your child, this would not be a concern. Instead, you could use the benefits to pay for the funeral, etc. Those who believe that life insurance for children is important, also agree that a policy of $10,000 is the perfect fit. Of course, this is a matter of opinion as well.
On the other side of things, most parents decide against buying life insurance for their child. There are several reasons for this way of thinking. First off, they simply do not want to deal with the process of buying this type of life insurance. Not only can it be long and drawn out, but it can also make for a stressful time. After all, nobody wants to think about the possibility of their child dying. Additionally, life insurance policies do cost. This is not to say that you will have to spend hundreds of dollars a month, but for parents who are on a tight budget, every little bit that is saved counts.
Overall, there is no right or wrong answer to this question. You need to consider your personal situation and beliefs, and then decide whether or not to purchase life insurance for your child.
