Health Insurance for the Self Employed
One of the biggest drawbacks of becoming self employed is that you will be responsible for your own health insurance policy. While it is not a big deal to buy your own policy, it can be difficult to choose one that fits your pay scale and health related needs.
Many health insurance companies have policies that are put together specifically for self employed individuals. What does this mean? Well, it depends on what company you are dealing with. Some of them will have more than one self employed health insurance policy, and others will have one that is pretty much standard. The differences will be based on cost, deductible, coverage, and other policy details.
When buying your own health insurance, make sure that you are not giving up good coverage for the lowest possible price. This may sound great when you are buying, but will it sound good when you have to go to the doctor? Remember, you want to at least have enough insurance to make sure that you are never stuck with an enormous doctor or hospital bill.
There are plenty of health insurance policies for self employed workers. If you are working for yourself, don't forget to pay your health insurance premium every month.
