Health Insurance Important to Voters

Although there are many issues that the new president will have to take care of, the health insurance industry is one that many voters are most concerned with. When it comes down to it, there are many people who are suffering from the decline of the health insurance industry in the United States. This includes more than 47 million people who do not have health insurance coverage, as well as many others who have amassed huge bills due to the ever increasing cost of health care. It is safe to say that millions of people are going to base their vote on whom they feel will best fix the health insurance and health care industries.

Many people agree that universal health insurance coverage is the only way to ensure that everybody is taken care of. Of course, this is easier said than done. Not only would a universal system take time to implement, but it would also change the way that hospitals, doctor's offices, and insurance companies do business. On top of this, there are sure to be quite a few economic impacts if the new president decides that universal health care coverage is the best option.

Each candidate has a different view on how they would change the health insurance industry for the better. For instance, democratic frontrunner Barack Obama wants to sink $10 billion into making improvements in the keeping of electronic medical records.

Several frontrunners from the Republican Party, including Mitt Romney and John McCain, are opposed to placing requirements on people to purchase health insurance. Additionally, they do not feel as if the government should increase their role in making changes within the industry. Does this mean that one of these candidates would simply leave the current system in place?

As the race for the White House heats up, each candidate will be forced to answer tough questions on how they will handle the current problems within the health insurance and health care industries. It is the answer to these questions that will sway how millions of people vote.
