Can your Life Insurance Expire?

If you are smart enough to purchase a life insurance policy when you need it, you must also be smart enough to make sure that this coverage never expires. There are many types of life insurance policies out there, and with each one the time that they expire is going to be different. Before purchasing a policy you will want to make for certain that you are totally aware of when your coverage will run out.

With a term life insurance policy, it is easy to keep track of when your coverage will expire. Take a 15 year term policy, for example. From the day that you purchase this coverage, you will have exactly 15 years until it expires. Is this going to be long enough for you? Remember, term life insurance policies differ in how long it takes for them to run out. In the above situation, if 15 years is not long enough you may opt for a longer term.

Whole life insurance is completely different. When you purchase one of these policies, your coverage will stick with you for as long as you live. The benefit is that money will be paid out when you pass on; no matter how young or old you are. But in order to get this coverage, you are going to have to pay more money than you would when dealing with a term policy.

Your life insurance policy can definitely expire. If this happens you need to be prepared for it while also knowing what your next move is going to be. As long as you do not let your policy expire without notice, you should be alright. Remember, you always want to make sure that your coverage is up to date.
