What are you getting for your Health Insurance Dollars?
The amount of money that you spend on health insurance is up to you; unless you receive a policy through your employer, of course. If you are purchasing your own health insurance policy, you need to determine what you are getting for your money. After all, value is very important when it comes to this type of coverage. You need to make sure that you spend enough money to get good coverage, but not so much that you are breaking the bank.
There are many things that you can do to assess your health insurance situation and whether or not you are getting a good deal. The first thing that you need to do is determine how much you are paying for health insurance. This should be easy enough if you receive a statement in the mail every month.
Now that you know what you are paying, the next step is to assess the coverage that you are receiving. In other words, what are you getting in exchange for the money that you are putting out? Generally speaking, the more you spend on a policy the better coverage you will receive. But of course, this is not the same across the board. Look at details such as your co-pay, deductible, out of pocket maximum, and coinsurance. No matter how much you are spending, you need to make sure that you are comfortable with these numbers.
Value is very important when shopping for health insurance. What are you getting for the money that you spend? If you do not feel that you are receiving a good deal, why not look into a new health insurance policy? You may find that your dollars go much further when dealing with another company.
