When Health Insurance won't work
Although health insurance is meant to be a good thing, there are times when having a policy will not work to your advantage. As you can imagine, avoiding these situations is very important. After all, if you are not covered at all times you are leaving yourself open to the possibility of collecting a huge bill. This is not something that anybody wants to deal with.
Here are three times when health insurance will not work to your benefit.
- As you can imagine, if you do not have a policy you are out of luck. For this reason, make sure that you always have some sort of coverage. Even if it is not a lot, it is much better than nothing. This way, if something major happens you will not get stuck with a bill that will affect your finances for the foreseeable future.
- If you pay for your own health insurance, you probably know that sending your payment in on time is very important. Most companies state that if your payment is more than 15 days late that they can cancel your coverage. Imagine thinking that you are covered just to find out that you missed a payment and got cancelled? Make sure that you always send your premium payment on time, and that you make sure the money is debited from your account.
- Every health insurance policy is different. Before you sign up, make sure that you are aware of the stipulations that outline what you are and are not covered for. Many people think that their health insurance policy will pay for visits to the eye doctor and dentist. But in most cases this is not the truth. Be 100 percent sure of these stipulations before you begin to see doctors that are not covered.
These are three common circumstances when you will not be covered by your health insurance policy. You may think that they will never mean anything to you, but every year tens of thousands of people get hit big time by taking the above points lightly.
